Today Only - A Short Detour from Our Country Path

Are you interested in growing your blog,
and taking it to the next level?

I've been blogging about my move from the
city life to the country life for 3 years now.

{Good grief, where DOES the time go?!}

I've been thinking about my blog every single day for the past month, about its need to transition, to be better, and yet retain its country focus.  It needs to grow into itself.

How can I make my blog better, so my readers enjoy coming here and reading about a country life?

I have learned a lot.  TONS.

The biggest thing I have learned is that I talk too much.  I need to shut-up and listen to YOU more.

And then I thought, I bet some of my readers might be wondering the same thing about THEIR blogs - how they can blog better and grow their blog at the same time.

At the top of the research heap, the e-book 31 Days to Build a Better Blog by Darren Rowse, an expert blogger who offers tons of blogging tips at his website, ProBlogger.

You might have noticed a few days ago that I added a link to his e-book in my right sidebar.

Another great website with tons of blogging tips is CopyBlogger, obviously more oriented to the content of your blog.

I'd love it if you decided to join me for the next month - I've already purchased the e-book 31 Days to Build a Better Blog and I'm on Day Four of the tasks.

Click on the link to the right in my sidebar ... check it out, and if you buy the e-book, let's take this journey together and share notes!

We'll return to our regularly scheduled
country path tomorrow!

  1. You go girl! :) Can't wait to see the changes...

BTW, I forgot to tell you on your travel blog that you are close to a winery. They have fruit wines and also host mystery weekends!

  2. Hello Susan!
Yes I can't wait to see the changes too! I like this 'old' blog but it will be exciting to see what you do different...I know you'll do a great job. This really looks like a great 'book' and it's something I may consider doing too. Thanks for the 'heads up' on this! I hope you're having a great day...enjoy your weekend!

  3. Loving this idea, and I had noticed that some of the other bloggers had mentioned a few of his tips. I have changed my fonts, and my background colors, will still be tweaking them again.

Let us know how you like the book.

  4. Lost heart for awhile and haven't blogged for quite awhile . . . someone told me that "Life is what happens when we are making other plans." ;)
I am always happy to see your blog and have lived so much of it in my Vermont Farm Life . . . and am trying to figure out this Kansas Farm Life "thing." lol . . . and your chipper outlook (even through the death of both roos and a few Guineas) is refreshing and fun. Thank you! Whatever you do it will be topnotch and colorful and creative and YOU! Can't check in as much as before because of my limited data usage on my internet plan . . . but am glad I checked in to "see" you today. Hugs from "up north!" lol

  5. I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to your email yet, but I was going to let you know that my friend Lynn took this challenge and it's helped her blog WONDERS! If I had the money, I would definitely invest in this program :)

I can't wait to see what it does for you! And if I learn something along the way, so be it ;)

    Good luck!

  6. I know how you feel...sometimes it feels like I need a little "oomph" in my blog.I always want to try and make it interesting to readers so it's worth their time stopping by. I spent 14 years writing lifestyle/cookbooks, and I'd really like to write or blog for a country magazine...dreaming, dreaming. Anyway, I just might find some tips & fresh ideas...thanks for sharing! -Mary

  7. I see you switched to the larger font size...I tried that on my blog, felt like it looked like, see spot run...but on your blog it looks good...I may have to rethink! :)

  9. I have really been up and down with blogging starting with AOL "journals". Back then, we were like a close knit little family and the posts were more like newsy friendly letters. It's so different now. I would love to get MY enthusiasm for blogging back but I don't need a huge audience...what I really want is a close circle of people I feel a connection with. I'll watch your progress with interest. I hope this challenge helps you get where you want to go.
    :)
