Why I Should NOT Walk to the Mailbox in Slippers

Go ahead, click to enlarge and take a look at his beady eyes!

Sorry, the ole camera didn't have the close-up lens on it, but I think you get the idea. Let's just say that I came so close to stepping on this big ole wolf spider that I jumped a mile high and yelled, to no one in particular since no one is awake out here in the boonies this early in the morn.

The cats were milling about while I tried to snap a few pics, and then Fluff walked right on the freaking spider, which made it curl up and shake its legs (can you say EWWWW??!) and then start running, towards ME of course. I yelled loud enough that even the spider cringed. I kid you not.

See what y'all miss by living in the city??! :-)

  6. I met one of those coming in my back door yesterday. I said "Sorry, you shouldn't have come in here" and smacked him with a flip-flop. Then I felt bad for killing him because of how he looked.

  7. I thought I heard a distant scream this morning way over here in PENNSYLVANIA! You got yourself a set of lungs, I'll give ya that!!
Those ARE some beady eyes, but I will "take" one of them any day over a snake. Are they poisonous?

  8. I know just where your commin' from. I will go be-bopin' out the door barefoot or wearing flippies to retrieve the mail and am almost always remorseful for that mistake. Too many wild things on the Ponderosa for that.

    Have a wonderful spiderless day!!!

  9. Glad you didn't step on him. That would've been a shock early in the morning. Just seeing him was bad enough, huh? :)

  14. Ewwww. And I thought our Florida spiders were big. I've never spotted them in the grass though. They are always in the trees or eves in their webs. I'm going to have to walk more carefully now.
