Not All Chicken is Good for You

In my quest for more fruit, I stopped by the grocery store last night after work. As I stockpiled my hand basket with bananas, grapes, and apples, the very fried smell of chicken assailed my nostrils... my nose led me to the deli in Dillon's, where they had piles of freshly fried chicken, on the bone and boneless. I do not know whether their chicken had 0 grams of trans fat or not; I just knew that I was salivating in front of their deli case and I HAD to have a piece.

And so it was, 3 blocks later, I had finished my solitary strip of crispy fried chicken. It was delectable, but alas, definitely NOT on my current mean strict diet plan.

Tonight I will assault my body with the P90X program again, this time the plyometrics segment. This segment is over an hour long. I think it's pretty safe to say I will not be completing the entire hour, or I will certainly find myself in the local ER. Keep me in your thoughts, that I live to tell my story on Friday. :)

  1. When I'm tempted to get fried chicken (which is very rare and I also don't fry at home), I allow myself one or two full bites with skin and fat, and then rip off the skin and/or crunch for the rest. It helps with the guilt factor, plus my stomach just doesn't handle fried very well the last few years. Good luck with your new exercise and diet regime!

  2. You need some of the little no no foods sometimes to understand just how they make you feel. Being a veggie, I sometimes yearn for that good BBQ hamburger taste or a bite of the fried chicken. Take a bite and then say..ok enough! Don't kill yourself over it...everyone needs a reward ;-)

  3. Diet? Did someone say diet? Strict/mean eating regime... starvation? GAH! When those fried chickens come bawk bawk bawking at my door I just open the door and let them come in.

  4. Next time give it to Ringo-I'm sure he will not turn it down and then you will feel good that you made him such a happy Chocolate. Ooops-chocolate is a bad word too, isn't it? Not our kind, we actually will help with your weight loss plan!
    Keep up the dedication!

  6. You did just the right thing - you had a little sample of what you were craving, enjoyed every morsel and I bet you were satisfied and happy after that weren't you? And it didn't take a whole box of it to do the trick.

Speaking of things we shouldn't have, it's Friday night party time. Pop a cold one and come on by if you have a chance :-)

  9. How many calories in that one slice? I don't think any damage was done.

  10. Sometimes it is better to have a little of what you crave!
If the rest of your diet is healthy and varied it won't undo all your good work.
You are doing very well. xx
